We are pleased to announce today some additional enhancements to the MSC interpretations search, making the platform even easier to use.

The challenge

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is an internationally recognised sustainability organisation that works to protect oceans and safeguard seafood supplies for the future. Seafood carrying the MSC blue label comes from certified sustainable fisheries.

As with many standard-setting organisations, MSC needs to provide guidance and clarification to support consistent interpretation of its standards and requirements. These interpretations help explain the intent behind individual clauses and provide additional context for how requirements should be understood and applied.

Previously, this information was managed through spreadsheets, making it difficult to maintain, search and share effectively. MSC wanted a more transparent, user-friendly and scalable way to communicate interpretations to stakeholders.

The solution

Using the 10 free licences available to eligible non-profit organisations through Salesforce, we built a lightweight interpretations platform that could be delivered quickly and maintained easily.

The Salesforce platform allowed MSC to:

  • Add and manage interpretations through a simple interface
  • Publish updates online on a searchable web-based solution, in real time
  • Improve transparency and accessibility for users

The initial project was completed in just a few days in 2018.

Ongoing partnership

Since the original launch, we have continued working with MSC to provide ongoing support and incremental improvements to the platform.

We are pleased to announce today some additional enhancements to the MSC interpretations search, making the platform even easier to use.
